Get your needles ready for this one, ladies. Crochet is in.

Crochet is having a huge comeback for spring and summer 2022. It’s easily one of the most wearable trends. You can go super colorful with it for a playful look, or wear a more subtle neutral crochet. Crochet has been slowly making its way back in for a few years now, but it’s making a full comeback this year. Let’s look at its progression.

Kim Kardashian wore this Vivienne Westwood Crochet Dress in 2020. This is totally the Kim K way to wear crochet. Her look is sexy and sophisticated as per usual. (Also, can we just say #tbt to Kimye?!)

Then in 2021, Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber both flaunted their crochet bucket hats on the beach via Instagram. If you had to pick two style icons that resonate with Gen Z, Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber would definitely be high on the list! The bucket hats provide a more playful way to wear trend. Now would be a great time to point out that Bella Hadid has actually been rocking crochet since 2017, when she was seen wearing a full crochet outfit at the Cannes Film Festival. What can we say? She’s ahead of the trends.

On the runways, Anna Sui’s Spring 2022 Another Day in Paradise collection caught our attention. The collection is inspired by the feeling of “escaping to a little-known holiday spot, where the weather is forever sunny, the waves are consistently tasty, and the people are always fun and cool.” The collection uses hand crocheted cardigans, skirts, bralettes, and even bikinis. It also featured 3D hand crocheted flower vests, kerchiefs, and bags, so chances are we’re going to see crochet in both apparel and accessories this year.
